PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and training OSP Drop Technicians and vendors involved in the placement of underground, aerial, and hybrid drops. This includes working with fiber optic cables, fiber optic connectors, taps, poles, and other infrastructure that supports Beacon’s fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services. This includes supervising both in-house employees and vendors.

Standard Setting and Assurance


Work assignment documentation
Drop running line
Invoice processing
Fiber optic power meter readings
Ensure teams and third-party contractors are adhering to Beacon’s standards


Invoice Tracking and Approval


Inventory Control


Manage inventory for drop deployment
Ensure teams have the inventory and materials needed for all drop work
Manage equipment inventory and maintenance


Dispatch


Aging report management and reporting
Dispatch drops between In-house and vendors
Maintain accurate drop schedule
Call in locates for all underground drops


Reporting


Production reporting
Safety incident reporting
Weekly update
Monthly production and incident and compliance reporting

 

Vendor Management

Present standards to vendors
Quality control
Dispatch work to vendors

COMPETENCIES          

                                                                                                                                                                    Fiber Optic and Cabling Knowledge – Expertise in fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cabling.     

Equipment Proficiency – Experience with splicing equipment, testers, light meters, and fiber optic   connectors.

Inventory & Dispatch Management – Tracking materials and scheduling drop deployments efficiently.

Team Supervision & Training – Leading and mentoring OSP Drop Technicians and vendors.

Communication & Coordination – Strong skills in relaying technical information and coordinating teams.

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making – Handling field issues and emergency repairs effectively.

Safety – Understanding of basic OSHA standards and the need for performing duties safely.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

The job operates in a professional office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing

cabinets and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary.

 

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

 

TRAVEL                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

 

Occasional travel throughout the Beacon and CCEC service territories. Some travel throughout Oregon and other 

states for conferences and other events.

 

QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

·         High school diploma or equivalent required.

·         Valid Oregon driver’s license and insurability.

·         Prior experience preferred. 

·         Proficient using computers and technology tools common in the business environment.

·         Customer/vendor interaction expertise. 

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

·         Strong MS Office Suite Skills.

·         Reliable transportation for getting to work.

·         Must meet the requirements of pre-employment drug screening and comply with company drug and alcohol policy while employed.
